Online Discussion: Civil Liberties and Virtual Worlds (January 28, Webcast and in Second Life)

 

1.24.08 | Join us in-world and via webcast for a discussion with Jack Balkin, professor of Constitutional Law and the First Amendment at Yale Law School and Robin Harper, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development from Linden Lab. MacArthur’s President, Jonathan Fanton, will host the discussion as part of a year-long investigation into the role of philanthropy in virtual worlds.

The event, “Philanthropy and Virtual Worlds: Considering Civil Liberties,” is being presented by The USC Institute for Network Culture and Global Kids and will take place on the USC Annenberg Island in Second Life and on the Global Kids Estate in Teen Second Life at 12:00 PM PST on Monday, January 28, 2008.

Douglas Thomas, Professor at USC and Director of the Institute for Network Culture, and Barry Joseph, Director of Global Kids’ Online Leadership Program will also announce a series of upcoming events exploring philanthropy in virtual worlds.
