Event Follow up: What are Kids Learning in Virtual Worlds?
A large crowd joined us in Los Angeles last week for an engaging discussion about what kids are learning in virtual worlds. This was our third Public Forum in Digital Media and Learning.
Thanks to those of you who braved LA traffic or joined us in Second Life for our third public forum: What are Kids Learning in Virtual Worlds? The Wonders and the Worries. A crowd of over 200 educators, parents, and researchers gathered at the University of Southern California to hear Anastasia Goodstein, Barry Joseph, Doug Thomas, and Yasmin Kafai explore what kids are doing in these new virtual spaces and what it means for their learning, identity and sense of community. Thanks to Common Sense Media and the USC Center on Public Diplomacy for co-hosting the event and to all of our panelists.
For those of you who were not able to join us in LA or in Second Life full coverage of the event can be viewed here.
For more analysis read Connie Yowell’s thematic overview or read more about the panelists. Also see last week’s posts from panelists here and here.
