For three weeks this fall more than sixty experts drawn from the world of game development, design, education, sociology, and media studies came together in a series of online dialogues to discuss and debate the future of kids, games, and learning. The transcript of these conversations reveals a wealth of ideas, references, hopes, fears, misconceptions, and competing pedagogies--the words are raw and unedited and make for a fascinating read.

Hi. I am a professor of education who has invested the last 19 months into building my own educational technical center that features gaming. With a doctorate in comparative and international education from UCLA I am very aware of international inequities in the world. The digital divide is an interest of mine. I believe that global transformations can come through virtual learning organizations. Although I only have one site at this time, I hope to expand what I am doing with youth here, in this small town in Northcentral Florida, to rural areas in Africa, Asia and Latin America. If youth are interested in gaming, technology, computing and other software topics, I balance it with the environment and global studies. It works well. We are presenting posters at the Comparative and International Event at the University of Florida on Tuesday - one of the topics is gaming. I will be redoing our website as well to reflect our many activities. I am pleased to have this spotlight where gaming is the focus.
